Paradis International School-‘Future of Jobs’ – Romania

“Future Insights: A Propulsion into the Future of Jobs”.

The conference was organised on 10th June 2021 by Paradis International school, Romania. The conference highlighted the fact that in the future the way jobs have been going on will change and a few jobs might become obsolete while a few or many more might emerge. The conference started with keynote speaker Dr. Adrian Stoica, from NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, California Institute of Technology, in order to capture this world of space and future change, talking about the various experience he had, the types of people he has met over the course of many years and how everything has evolved in the space research area. He also gave first hand experiences that he himself had to face and the struggles he had in order to make his dream become a reality. He talked about how a few jobs might be replaced in the future like the courier service and many more. ‘

He also talked about how sometimes we might dream of doing one thing but due to circumstances might have to choose another career path. Which brought him to his point, how should we peruse or what should we do to achieve what we want.

After a session of questions and answers we were dived into baraza’s where after introducing and talking a bit about other ourselves our hosts asked us to participate in a round of ‘which job actually exists’ where we found that really odd jobs like a dog and cat food tester or a professional sleeper actually exist. Then we came to the main topic of our baraza, the three questions, ‘What jobs do you think will be lost in the future?

  • What new job(s) do you think will emerge in the future?
  • What skills do you think will be needed for the job(s) you have chosen?’

They just so many things that we had to discuss them and many suggestions as to how we could try to save those jobs that before we even knew it was time for the second keynote speaker’s speech and the end of our Baraza session.

The second keynote speaker was Anurupa Ganguly, Founder and CEO at Prisms, who holds a BS & M.Eng in electrical engineering from MIT and an Ed. M in Curriculum & Teaching from Boston University. She talked about how we should be realistic in our dreams, how we need to sometimes take a different and riskier path to reach our end goal successfully. She also talked about how our reality might be very soon mixed with VR even for educational purposes. We had a very interactive session with her and then we ended the conference on a happy note with each Baraza presenting their views. And as everything ends this wonderful conference too came to an end.
