Independence Day and Varsha Mangal

INDEPENDENCE DAY REPORT

15th August 2017, the 71st Independence Day was marked by a grand celebration in our school premises. It was a significant day for all Indians and we celebrated it remembering the sacrifices of great Indian leaders and martyrs who laid down their lives for the freedom and glory of our motherland. To add to the spirit of the day we had Col. A.Dutta as our Chief Guest for the day. Other honourable guests who graced the occasion with their benign presence were Mrs. Khetan and Mrs. Cyril, Principal, Little Ones.

The program commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest who unfurled the flag and everyone stood up in reverence for the National Anthem.

Our Principal Ma’am Mrs.Shikha Bannerjee welcomed the Chief Guest and the other esteemed Guests of Honour. The Chief Guest escorted by our Principal Ma’am inspected the parade. He took the salute as the four houses, tall and erect, smartly marched, tuned to the beats. The March Past was followed by a lively and robust display of drills presented both by the junior and the Senior School. Guru Sahiba Bhatia of Class XI, delivered a speech inEnglish, highlighting the relevance and significance of the freedom that we attained after centuries of servility. The other prominent features of the day were the display of aerobics and some amazing feats in the Hover Boards and a speech in Hindi on Independence Day, delivered by Kushagra Agarwal of Class XII.

VARSHA MANGAL REPORT

The spirit of the occasion was further uplifted by the festive celebration of Varsha Mangal Utsav, in which the Nature Gods were venerated and a new sapling was planted to mark the occasion.

Some beautiful and mesmerizing dances like Peacock Dance, Radha Krishna Dance, Manipuri dance etc. added colour and grace to the overall festivity.

The program was highly appreciated and lauded by the Chief Guest in his final address. The event came to a closure with a Vote of Thanks delivered by our respected Headmistress Ma’am, Mrs. Bhaumik.
