RSIC 2022 conference

The five-day conference was indeed an enriching and wonderful learning opportunity for the entire delegation represented by two adults- Ms. Vidhuupriya Rastogi (Round Square Representative) and Mrs. Rinku Pandey (Senior English Faculty) and six students (Miss Adya Shukla, Miss Ishita Bhatia, Miss Faizah Saad, Master Yash Gurnani, Master Avi Gupta, Master Malay Advani). The Conference centred around the theme Take Less and Be More, and all five days were quite engaging and informative. It was a great platform to interact and socialize with people from diverse backgrounds as there were schools from over 50 countries and more than 3500 delegates from different nationalities.
The first three days we were put up at Balliol College, Oxford University and were honoured and delighted to hear the Keynote speakers:

  • Benjamin Myer Fogle, FRGS is an English broadcaster, writer and adventurer, best known for his presenting roles with British television channels Channel 5, BBC and ITV.
  • Emily Penn is a skipper and ocean advocate dedicated to studying environmental challenges in the most remote parts of our planet. She is an international public speaker and advisor on issues relating to our ocean and future society.
  • Professor Sir Dieter Helm is Professor of Economic Policy at the University of Oxford and Fellow in Economics at New College, Oxford.Dieter is Honorary Vice President of the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust.

who spoke on the topics pertaining to the theme of the conference at the New Oxford Theatre. This was subsequently followed by Baraza sessions comprising students and teachers from various nationalities to build international understanding and the spirit of cooperation. The delegates indulged in fun creative activities including a literary adventure race (Scavenger Hunt) and Ceilidh (a social event with Scottish or Irish folk music and singing) dancing.
The last two days were at Wales. The entire experience was very exciting and thrilling as the delegates were made to stay in tents and everybody had an extensive camping experience. The idea behind this was to use minimum technology and enjoy nature at its closest. Water sports such as coasteering were thoroughly enjoyed and witnessed maximum participation. A visit to the Bug Farm was a novel experience for all and everyone zealously took a tour of the place.
