Mock Parliament

The Social Studies Department organized a Mock Parliament session for the Middle School and Senior School students on April 23, 2022. It was indeed an exhilarating and informative session.

Class 12 students represented various renowned Indian politicians and deliberated upon the agenda- ‘Discussing the taxation policy and government charges on Crude Oil with special emphasis on a subsequent spike in Diesel and Petrol prices.’ Our respected Principal, Mrs. Shikha Banerjee, Vice-Principal: Junior school, Ms. Madhushree Bhaumik, and Headmaster, Mr. M.K. Mishra graced the occasion with their benign presence.

The delegates who enhanced the Mock Parliament with their electrifying performances were Suyash Tripathi as Mr. Hardeep Singh Puri, Kunal Bhatia as Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Aryan Nigam as Mr. Rahul Gandhi, Utkarsh Chaturvedi as Mr. Narendra Modi, Avi Gupta as Mr. Asaduddin Owaisi, Harshal Singh as Mr. Sambit Patra, Aditya Pareek as Mrs. Nirmala Sitharaman, Pranjali Gupta as Mrs. Mamta Banerjee, Jasraj Singh as Mr. Sanjay Raut, Vedansh Duggal as Mr. Mallikarjun Khadke, Yash Gurnani as Mr. Akhilesh Yadav, Agam Bhasin as Mr. Kanhaiya Kumar and Divyash Singh Lamba as Mr. Manmohan Singh. Further, the session was presided over by Anika Chib who represented the Speaker of the Parliament, Shri Om Birla.

The Parliamentary procedures commenced with the participants giving their opening statements followed by the Question Hour and an Informal Session where the house was opened to the audience. The proposition defended itself with statistical data, facts, and smart puns. On the other hand, the opposition tried its best to trap the proposition’s stance in their sly web of words.

All in all, it was a very enriching and engaging session and was greatly acknowledged by all the students and teachers present. With thunderous claps, demolishing questions, deceitful replies, and astounding answers, the Mock Parliament came to an end. Following parliamentary procedures, the session was concluded with the National Anthem.
